A lyrical seriocomedy, RUNNING AFTER BOBBY is about a diverse collection of characters – and a nation – struggling to overcome disillusionment. At the center of the play is Barry, a teenager trying to fix his broken nation by resurrecting the spirit of his recently murdered hero, Senator Robert F. Kennedy. It’s 1969, and Barry leaves his small Southern town to join the campaign of a Kennedyesque candidate for City Council in New York City. There, he gets a crash course in political realities, peep shows, and the powerful myths that define America – and drive apart his family.
